Dear President Biden, Governor DeSantis, Congressman Aaron Bean, John Rutherford, and Concerned Citizens, Coalitions and Non-profits
We, the Haitian Community in Jacksonville and throughout the State of Florida, respectfully present our concerns regarding the current state of immigration policies, current lack humanitarian efforts and security in Haiti. We approach this with a desire for dialogue, understanding, and equitable solutions.

Governor DeSantis, we are seeking clarity on the reasons why Haitians are facing barriers in their attempts to enter Florida because their life is in danger. The Haitians are legitimate refugees seeking safety and shelter as human beings. Women are being raped, children and babies are being harmed, starvation and a lack of water is a problem.
Furthermore, we care so much about the welfare of Haitian individuals who undertake perilous journeys at the sea. Governor DeSantis, as you put more resources to prevent Haitian’s vessels coming into Florida, could you elaborate on the plans in place for assisting Haitians upon their arrival in Florida? What will be the plan of action towards those black people who are escaping just for their safety? It is scary to hear that you sent additional personnel just to STOP Haitians who are fleeing for their lives by sea. We believe in the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of their nationality or background like WE, Haitians did for everyone in the past.

Governor DeSantis, we implore you to reconsider any policies or rhetoric that may contribute to the dehumanization vis-a-vis Haitian asylum seekers. Every individual deserves compassion and support during times of unrest and uncertainty. There is NO difference between Haitian, Ukrainians, Jews and Palestinians who’s seeking the same thing-SAFETY! We appeal to your sense of empathy and humanity in addressing this issue.

Congressman Aaron Bean and John Rutherford we ask that you vote in congress for a change, help stop the gun imports to Haiti that are getting in the hands of gangs and others. We ask that you ask Speaker of the House Johnson to put on the floor and emergency bill to help refugees have safe passages out of Haiti first, second provide security to the nation and provide a democratic process for Haitians to determine who they will choose to be their leaders in a democratic society.
President Biden, we are curious about the reasons behind the reluctance of the United States, Canada, and France to recognize Haitian self-determination, as outlined in the "Declaration de Principe" by the Haitian Commission which may not have all the answers, but is the beginning of an opportunity for a positive change. We advocate for the principles of fairness and sovereignty for all nations, including Haiti.

We fervently hope for the safe passage of Haitian refugees to Florida, and we believe that the involvement of the American Coast Guard is essential in ensuring their safety. Humanitarian intervention in Haiti is paramount for the well-being and stability of its people.
We also call for broader awareness and scrutiny of the historical and current roles played by the US, Canada, and France in Haiti's destabilization. Understanding the root causes of these issues is crucial for finding sustainable solutions and promoting justice. Therefore, we are asking all citizens regardless of age, sexual orientation or race to call, email, text, write, and use social media to seek for immediate assistance to Haiti to resolve this crisis.
Governor DeSantis, we respectfully urge you to reconsider any measures that may disproportionately target Haitians, such as the state of emergency declared in Jan 2023. We believe that such actions only serve to perpetuate discrimination and division.
Finally, we propose exploring alternative methods, such as utilizing cruise ships, to facilitate the safe passage of individuals seeking refuge. Collaboration with entities like
Royal Caribbean Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines could potentially offer humanitarian assistance to Haitian refugees.
We appreciate your attention to these matters and are hopeful for constructive dialogue and action to address the challenges faced by the Haitian community. Please feel free to contact us at 9046998941 for further discussion or clarification.
Sincerely,
